Love, love, love this book! The writing is phenomenal, the pacing is perfect and the love story kept me turning the pages well into the night. You’ll be thinking about these characters long after you read the last page.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bittersweet first love, June 2, 2011 By Common Sense
This review is from: The Halo Chronicles: The Guardian (Kindle Edition)
This author does an excellent job of capturing the mingled joy and pain that accompanies a girl’s first love. I actually cried at the end, something that doesn’t happen very often. The writing flowed nicely, I couldn’t stop reading, and I can’t wait to read what happens in the next book.
I’d recommend this to lovers of YA and romance of all ages.
4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Easy Read, May 25, 2011 By Angelz429
This review is from: The Halo Chronicles: The Guardian (Kindle Edition)
If you’re a fan of books like Twilight – teen romance, anguished lead character, dreamy eye candy, heroes, bad guys (angels & demons to be more precise) – then you’ll love this. I couldn’t put it down.
Despite the sadness in the ending, there is hope left in the promise of another book. I was left definitely wanting to read more!
There is a lot of depth to the characters – and a lot of surprises which is usually hard to pull off. Carey Corp not only understands the inner psyche of teens, she also fluently speaks teenager. She has a bright future in teen novels.

This book is beautifully written. I was surprised at how much i ended up loving this book. And for 2.99 its well worth it. I loved Alexia’s strength and determination. All the characters were well written and had depth.
I would strongly recommending reading this book. If you dont you are missing out on something great.

This book was simply amazing. I am now seeking the rest of the series that I know this book must belong to. Carey Corp is a fantastic writer with the ability to write a story without worrying about taking chances with her characters. (By the way I couldn’t help but picture Lucas Till as Gabriel, keep that in mind for a movie deal!) So many authors are afraid if they allow characters that their readers truly love to end up having an outcome that is not such a happy ending that they will lose the interest of their followers. I for one adore writers that are not afraid to put the lives of their characters on the line for the greater good of a story and I feel that Carey Corp is definitely one of these writers.
I would recommend these books for not only teens but adults as well, this story captured me and held me until the very end and I can honestly say Carey Corp has become a favorite of mine from this moment on.
Carey if you read this review know that I would LOVE to read the rest of your series, I am dying to know what happens to Alexia, Derry, and Jonah next!

While the actual heart of the story seems to take a long time coming, the interactions between the main character Alex and those around her was more than enough to keep me interested. Carey Corp does a great job creating this mythology around angels and the difference between good and bad. I really enjoyed reading, (so much so that I put it on my iPhone and brought it around with me so I could read every second I got). She builds strong, fleshed out characters, each with their own definitive personality, and her dialogue is both believable and entertaining. I would without a doubt recommend reading, and I hope there’s a second one soon.

I’m speechless right now, words cannot describe the beauty of this book. I need to get myself together before I post a review.
~Update~
Ok this story was beyond amazing. I really dont want to give anything away so I wont say too much. What I can say though is Carey captured the emotions of teenage love & heartache perfectly. The end is so bittersweet but I’m giddy waiting for the next
couldnt put it down.. hope theres a second book soon!!!
I really enjoyed this book. What I appreciate the most is that the author allowed the angel in the book, to be an angel. She didn’t turn him into a blood sucking vampire or a werewolf or some other ridiculous thing. I really enjoyed the characters and the story line and I hope there will be a sequel to this story.
OTHER:
My BFF from HS just finished reading my book. She sent me this: “Just finished reading the Guardian. Amazing! It kept me up til 2am!”

It’s like prom all over again except no date to ditch me halfway through the night. PLUS I get to socialize with other amazing YA finalists and RITA finalists like Ally Carter, Simone Elkeles, Cyn Balog, Jennifer Echols, Tina Ferraro, and Lauren Strasnick.
